April 9, 2017 Speaker: Dennis Hermerding Series: Palm Sunday 2017

Passage: Luke 19:28–44, Philippians 2:3–8

Discussion Questions:

1. What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?

2. Why do we tend to like to be fans more than followers?
What is the difference in being an admirer and a disciple?

3. How is Jesus the Savior King we need but not necessarily the Savior King we want?

4. Why was Jesus cried when He looked at Jerusalem?

5. What brings you to tears?

6. When we see a need we are to move with Jesus, whatever it costs, toward need. We don’t pursue the comforts and the securities and the ease of avoiding other peoples’ pain. We lean into the mercy of Jesus and extend it to others in their need. What are ways we can do this together as a Missional Community?

7. Mercy if helpful. It doesn’t just feel – though it does feel – and it doesn’t just humbly deny itself – though it does deny itself – it actually does things that help people.
Are you actually willing to admit your need and allow not only Jesus but his people to help you and show you mercy?
How are you doing in ministries of mercy?
Is there movement toward those who have needs, pain, suffering, misery or loss or sadness, that means denying yourself?
What help are you actually giving to those in need?

8. How does seeking to show mercy to others drive you to lean into the mercy of Jesus more?
